Setting up a 2-player game
From invite link to first roll in about a minute.
1. Create a 2-player room
Open the Play page and create a private room with a player limit of 2. You’ll get an invite link (and a room code) to send your rival — they open it, pick a name, and they’re in the lobby. No account, no download, on their side either.
2. Set the stakes your way
The host controls the room before the game starts: starting cash, player limit, and whether the room stays private. Want a longer, more forgiving duel? Raise the starting cash. Want a knife fight? Lower it. You two decide, then the host starts the game.
3. Play the duel
Head-to-head property trading is a different beast from a full table: every property is either yours or theirs, trades are rare and loaded, and the game is won by board control. The full ruleset is in play — groups, houses, hotels, mortgages, jail, trading — but the strategy is pure two-player math. Thetwo-player strategy guidecovers exactly how that math works.
4. Handle drops and rematches
If someone’s connection drops, reopening the room link puts them back in their seat — cash and properties intact. And when the game ends, rematching is as fast as the first game: create another room, share the link, roll again.

Can I really play with just 2 players?
Yes. When you create a room you set the player limit — choose 2 and the room accepts exactly one opponent. The full ruleset works perfectly head-to-head: buying, rent, trading, and bankruptcy all play out between the two of you.
How long does a 2-player game take?
Most games run 45–90 minutes depending on player count and play style, and two-player games sit at the shorter end — there are fewer turns between your own and less table politics to slow things down.
What if my friend is late — can we start without them?
If you're one short, a bot can hold the seat so the game starts. Once a bot holds a seat it plays the full game, so it's best to wait for humans you're expecting — but bots are a great way to get a 2-player game going any time.
